This bug was already reported in 2018 (https://forums.opera.com/topic/27127/page-save-ctrl-s-does-not-save-the-currently-loaded-page ),

Additionally to described problem there is similar issue: when you save page with pictures (which obviously already downloaded), Opera again downloads same pictures - Why???? Even schoolboys understand it's stupid - download twice the same content. Not saying pictures are Static, they don't change between downloads.

It looks like "Save As" function is written completely out of Opera code and works independedly. It's dilettantish code and must be integrated into Opera and take into account cache of Opera. If we have file in cache - Do not download it! It's not only waste of time, but also wastes traffic, because some people still pays for bytes, not for speed.

Finally: I request to lodge bug and make code to avoid any downloads if content is already loaded by browser.

What do other Chromium-based browsers do in this case?

@letmein3-0 said in Opera saves pages ineffectively and wrong!:

            ... Why we should care??

Because it gives a better sense of the nature of the chromium code's page-save behavior that may underlie similar-based browsers. Changing something in the code Opera adds to the chromium code is one thing, but Opera changing the chromium code architecture it uses is something else entirely. Moreover, when a problem with a browser arises, it's simply good troubleshooting methodology to compare its behavior with a different browser on that same system under the same conditions.

@letmein3-0 Because Opera is based on Chromium and if it happens in other Chromium-based browsers too, it's probably a Chromium issue that needs to be addressed specifically in Chromium.
