By any chance is Opera installing this s/w by default? It could only happen after a browser update. I know I didn't install it, but it just showed up on 2 of my machines (I run Opera on both).

@ceedee I'm running Opera One(version: 105.0.4970.34). It's allegedly a tool to allow you to download and capture video from youtube.
There is no entry in the installed programs list, so I had a theory that maybe a browser "helped" me. Very weird. I'll be cleaning it up today.

@ceedee I actually have 3 physical systems and a ridiculous amount of virtual machines. I fired up my server box, allowed it to update Windows (been off for a while) and Opera.
No YTD... doing a deep scan on my Windows 11 laptop now. This just irritates the hell out of me, and I would not put it past Microsoft to be at fault. I will follow up.

@leocg I'm fishing not accusing. Trying to isolate how this might have happened. If Opera actually did it, and I am not saying it did, but if it did that would be a little okay - just trying to figure out how something like this got through the cracks.
The only thing I deliberately installed was the discus application on the Windows 10 machine. Windows 11 has had nothing installed on it for months.
It occurs to me another thought - well crap. Lost my train of thought. Sucks getting old.

@cgilley By any chance is it this,
https://addons.opera.com/en-gb/extensions/details/yt-download/says it gets installed with a video codec or something....
just a FYI
