@vvilku Yes, they test the releases but, you know, all softwares have issues and it won't block the release.
Only a really huge major issue, that completely prevent the use of the browser would block the launching of a new build.

@leocg Why is that a common practice in IT? That's quite disrespectful. Imagine applying the same standards in autmotive or construction... Like "the car runs and drives, but we haven't installed the windshield... QA = OK, release to production, we'll add a windshield in the next model"...

@vvilku The comparison is not correct since softwares don't use material stuff, they aren't something you can touch.

It's impossible to release a software without any bugs, that's why they are launched anyway unless there's something huge enough to block the release.

@leocg That's absolutely incorrect. It's a matter of due diligence and proper testing and QA.
We are getting used to the mediocrity of software delivered and the excuse is alwasy "it's impossible to do it better".
That's no excuse. You wouldn't accept an incomplete or incorrect service, like if you got a wrong hair cut - would you accept an explanation: "I ddin't work this time, it's too complicated, maybe it will work next time you visit"?

@vvilku You are comparing completely different things.

There never have been and there never will be a (complex) software released without any bugs.

@leocg that's exactly what I mean by normalising mediocrity. Thank you for confirming

                  @vvilku I'm not confirming anything.

And it has nothing to do with mediocrity, it's part of the nature of coding, that's how things work.

Developing a software means creating bugs.

                    Again: normalising.

Developing a software means creating bugs.

And testing and QA means finding them before releasing to the public.

Just like in journalism: an article should go through and editor and be reviewed. Otherwise we get brainfarts that try to resemble journalism. And we silently normalise this as well.

And that is done and several bugs are fixed before a new build is released. However, like I said, it's impossible to release a software with no bugs.

                      Again: normalising.

Nope, just accepting the nature of things.

@saltythehooligan you can delete the splash.exe, from appdata>local>programs>operagx>version number folder to get rid or do what i'm sure 90% of users are doing and UNINSTALL the browser and use something else

Strike one. Make my browser scream when I launched it.

If something like that ever happens again, I will spend the rest of my goddamn mortal life telling everyone I meet - privately and work related - to never touch an Opera product.

Whoever thought that was a cool idea needs to be fired.

I Love Using Opera GX I just have one issue and I think if you work on this your browser will become the ultimate in this industry now the issue I am talking about is a Security issue
I used to use Instagram on this browser it was amazing but I stopped using it because of some cracked software I installed was able to post something unintended on my page which was not allowed by me but still these applications were able to do so,
The same thing happened with my Google account, but they have high security so it logged out automatically from the browser
But since then I haven't logged in to Instagram

Please add some security features for it and if you want my help then I am happy to do so

@dreamerx Opera is a very secure browser.

What other security features do you think Opera should add?

i'd like to say that my friend wanted a GiF wallpapper on opera gx but it wouldn't work so add GiF wallpapper ability (we tried using the "add your own wallpapper)

New user here, moving a tab out of a window and moving it back in is impossible from what i can tell in opera GX. Since i use this functionality a lot as a student this is a deal breaker for me.

and i saw the panic button, i think its a really cool feature but I'm looking everywhere and cant find where i assign it to a specific button, its by default on f12 but I don't known where to change it. does anyone know how/where?
