Can I get rid of asking where to download a file when I download it?

I've tried both activating and deactivating "Ask where to save each other file before downloading", but I keep asking

@jaden2929 As said, depending on the file type that dialog will always show up, even if the option to show it is disabled.

@jaden2929 You can try right clicking on the link and choosing save link content as...

Of course it will only work for direct downloads.

@jaden2929 If you just click on the link, you will be in the situation that I mentioned before: Depending on the file type, you will always get the Save As dialog asking where to save the file.
