Cannot retrieve passwords

Hi, whenever I try to retrieve a password the password manager asks to enter a pc user name and PW. Can that nonsense be bypassed?

@brigittedoris Nope, Chromium encrypts saved passwords using the OS login credentials and that's why you are asked to provide your OS password.

@leocg If it has been like that for years why could I open it every time without being asked for any login until just recently?

@brigittedoris Just to make sure that nothing is being misunderstood here, you are talking about going to the passwords manager and see or copy the password for a page, right?

@brigittedoris Well, here it always worked like I said, with Opera and other Chromium based browsers asking for the OS password.

@brigittedoris Did you change anything in the way you login on your computer?
-

@leocg My PC doesn't have a login. I hit the power button and 30 seconds later it's ready to roll.

@brigittedoris What operating system (and version) is your computer using?

@brigittedoris It doesn't ask you for a login, what doesn't mean that it doesn't have a username and password.
When you install Windows, you are asked to use your Microsoft account or to use a local user account. -

@brigittedoris What kind of account is being used, a local one or a Microsoft one?
-

@brigittedoris And there's no way to recover the password?
Maybe you need to enable the login page. -

@leocg I don't know if there is a way to recover the pw, hence my original post. How do I enable the login page?
