+1 Gaming will eventually go to Linux some day.
The Distribution Windows and the x68 Architecture are at its limit and Apple is already showing that ARM64 or other Architectures will replace the current one.
If Opera wants to keep going Opera Gx needs to go to Linux aswell. -

@h2-san Years later. Still nothing. As more and more people start moving to linux due to their complete distain for Windows 11, Opera has not made a GX version for linux..... Man this is bullshit

I'm still waiting for Opera GX on my Fedora....
Love the built-in background music from this browser, but only on Windows (a boring OS).... -

@poorboy03 IF boring would be maybe acceptable, its borderline the worst OS on the market behind everybody, miles behind.
OSx is not like a wonder but with the full eco its great, + with the Google implementation of full office+ soft that is replacing mic.office + the integration with gmail and corp.suite easy of use and from anywhere web and the gdisk coop etc, windows is uff.. am still rocking win10 just for gaming ok but linux is the way for advanced people and fun people, Mac for the "artist" etc /for me boring OS the same same same, /btw I have 10+ years win/mac/linux all the way and can clearly daily see the diff.
Win 11 is so badly designed even the UI implementation its plain horrible stuff. The thing GX is not like this lusk on linux is baffling for me , in late 2023

I just switched to Garuda and am not happy that my favorite browser is not on there! Opera please support GX on Linux!!

How is this still not a thing???? Every browser worth using has Linux support - I suppose the Opera team has willfully consigned GX to that pit where the likes of Internet Explorer, Safari, and Netscape rest in hated obscurity....

No GX for Linux? Pretty weak...you're leaving out a huge segment of the internet community.

Other Opera on Linux posts keep getting locked lol, I think opera just doesn't care about their userbase at this point. Probably run by Microsoft Lackeys, eh?

Adding my voice here - please make opera gx port for linux - it does not make sense to not have it in 2023

As a developer that has only access to Linux for various reasons, i am forced to boot a VM only to do my testings with Opera gx, as all others Browsers are available directly. Which is a significant testing overhead that just pushes me to say 'sorry i'll fix this opera GX bug in 10 days alongside all other bugs on opera GX i've collected during this period to be time worthy.'. And this despite the bug being easy or hard to fix, just because it is annoying to have to work with VMs.
Hence why i'd ask for a OperaGX support on linux -

@doubledot Please have ChatGPT or something edit your messages before you post them, reading your post took far too much effort.
Regardless, I agree; us developers are heavily assf***** by Opera's refusal to do an easy Linux build. Hell, they could use all sorts of trickery to publish enough code for us to create our own Linux deploys (thus eliminating the need to support many platforms; they would just have to give us some object files to link), without letting us modify it. It's not hard to support the most popular operating system in the world.Personally I would be willing to maintain RPMs for Opera, and I'm sure there are plenty who would do the DEBs and whatever magic Arch uses. The Nix users would have a blast (wait, do they already have it? Sounds like the kinda magic spell Nix users are so well known for...)
Come on, Opera dev team, show a lil' love and support the community! We promise to behave!

If Opera is open source then we should just be able to recreate it ourselves. I'm sure they have a github page or something.

@gmgarciam Chromium, the browser base that Opera is built on, is indeed open source. Opera, however, is not. Some small parts of it have been made partially open source, but Opera GX is not open source, so no building from source unfortunately. (https://forums.opera.com/topic/43712/is-the-opera-open-source) If it was open source, we would see Linux builds all over the place by now.

@gmgarciam Opera is not open source, only its Chromium part is.
