[Duplicated]Opera doing search instead of opening the URL

Actually, I did a test now,
And the link to go to the page appeared on the first line,
the link with the magnifying glass (which opens the google search) appeared on the second line.In this way, the behavior was reversed.
When pasting the link, and pressing enter, it goes straight to the link (how should be).I really don't know what's going on
but it seems that Opera randomly defines which action will have priority, "Access URL" or "Open browser".There should be a way to define this to avoid this confusion, sometimes it does one thing, sometimes another.

@lgdelai It seems that you are making an unnecessary confusion.
If you want to open a page, you can type/paste its URL in the address bar and press enter or you can click on the page's link if it is listed in another page. That's how you open a webpage in any browser.
When you type or paste something on the address bar of any browser, you are also given the option to search for those terms and that's what the second line on the dropdown menu usually shows.
It seems that you are somehow clicking on that option for some reason.

You are correct, this is expected behavior in any browser. (when you paste a link, it leads to the link, when you paste a text, it searches on google).
However, in my Opera GX, the first option that 'was' being displayed, was to "search on google", which did so that when clicking enter immediately after pasting the link in the navigation bar, it was taken to the google search and not to the destination of the link.
For some reason opera reversed this, and then it went back to working correctly, I should have taken a screenshot or filmed it, I'll do that next time.

This happens to me and only after reading this thread did I realize it seems to be specifically for links I already have bookmarked. e.g. I paste a Zoom URL from a meeting invite without knowing that it's a room I already have bookmarked. When I hit enter you can see from the below screenshot that it's defaulting to "Search". There is also a bookmark but it's not the default.

Perhaps now, someone will take action to resolve this. This behavior is horrible.
And it should be taken into account, the search engine should never be the first option when inserting a link.
Whoever inserts a link in the navigation bar wants to access the link. This is obvious
When are you going to fix this?

Hello @leocg, Thanks for your reply, but no, that's not what happens. after pasting the link, sometimes opera displays the search engine at the top, and the link below, (which forces me to click on the keyboard arrow to select the link) and sometimes it displays the link already at the top. and just press enter to access the page. I couldn't detect any reason why he would do this, but as you can see it's not just me, other people are reporting the same thing. this behavior is very annoying.

Please can someone fix this bug?.
It is very annoying to navigate with this problem.
Today, it happened again, I went to paste the link:
https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx(I even have the link saved in my favorites)
And the browser, instead of displaying the link in the first option, displays the search.
To access the link I have to select the last option as you can see in the attached image.Understand that the fact that you test with the same link and the problem does not occur does not mean that the problem does not exist, as already mentioned here, the problem occurs randomly.
Is it possible that no one will take this seriously?

I can reproduce it easily. Just need to bookmark
https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx
and it does it. -

Hello it fixed for me, Opera would not recognize the following as a URL link
https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/178yasm/youtube_antiadblock_and_ads_october_16_2023/
what you're doing wrong here is overestimating the intelligence level of this browser, I removed the "/" at the end of the URL link as:
https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/178yasm/youtube_antiadblock_and_ads_october_16_2023
then it worked and loaded as a URL link as only then it is able to recognise it.
