I am using a iMac using macOS Ventura 13.4.1 and Opera version 101.0.4843.33

Before the recent Opera revamp, when I restarted my Mac all previously opened Opera browser windows would re-appear and sit very nicely in the dock at the base of my screen. Now, however, they all re-open but they don't nestle down in the dock, so I have to minimise each one to return them to down there at the base of the screen.

How can I get them to sit there from the restart, please?

@dusty-bin-0 This may not help, but when you shut down is there a tickbox with something like "reopen windows on restart/startup"? I don't use Ventura, and I haven't got my Mac on so I can't remember exactly.

@rob-b Actually I don't think it will help. It's not just with Opera I've found this happening. I tried various restart options, minimise, not minimised, with box ticked without.
The only time I got things to minimise on reopening was leaving things alone; ie box ticked, window left open when I shut down (but that in the past has always resulted in the window being open on startup, but not this time!)

@dusty-bin-0 A bit more playing and I've got something consistent.
"Open windows on restart "selected when you shut down,
Close window but don't quit programs when you shut down.

            That seems to work

I shall give this a try and let you know how I get on.

              Thanks for now. Appreciated! 🙂

So now I've followed your guidance....but got confused!

I left the browser windows open when I shut down, with the re-open windows box ticked, but although the windows did re-open on restart, they weren't minimised, which is what I'm aiming to get back.

Are you suggesting I close my Opera browser windows before I shut down? Surely that would stop any Opera browser window from re-opening on restart because before shutdown I had chosen to close the browser windows?

                See how I'm confused?

                  @dusty-bin-0 Ok my misunderstanding.
I was trying to find something that was consistent; with app open and sitting on dock. However, when I opened up my computer one app opened a window anyway ( and a couple of other) and opera didn't. It seems a bit random to me.

On my machine, if I minimise Opera it seems to stay minimised when I switch on but does a strange little maximise minimise maximise dance when I select it. I've tended to ignore the irritation of an open window because I seem to have a problem with vpnpro if I don't, and as ninety per cent of the time I'm just using Opera I put with.

My Mac doesn't support Ventura, so I'm only as far as Monterey, which I don't really like for some reason.

Sorry I can't be much more help than that.

Okay. Thanks for trying to help. If I do get to find a way to achieve my aim, then I'll repost.

                    Cheers!
