Hard drive failed on Windows PC. Replaced hard drive, did clean reinstall of Windows 8.1 (if you can call it "clean" when you start with Windows 7, upgrade to Windows 8, and then update to Windows 8.1). Then installed Opera Next with which I have generally been satisfied. Newly installed Opera Next is loading some pages so slowly they time out. It freezes when loading others and the page doesn't reload at all. Refreshing with F5 works after the second or third try. Also, cannot contact the update server to check for newer build. I hope this is a temporary problem either due to still working the glitches out of new OS installation or due to current Opera Next version. I am not going to make a big fuss over this because it just started happening and may get better, but I wanted to post this in case there's more to it than just a temporary annoyance. In fact, even posting this post was difficult because of this problem.

Far from me to even mention it, but your operating system does not sound to be of the most optimised of installations. Did you suffer from any of the problems you face now, before the re-installation/upgrade ?. Oh, and what exact version numbers (found in 'Menu /About Opera') of Opera were and are you currently using ?.
