@boldy-82 If you go to www.sync.opera.xom, does it say that you have bookmarks synced?

There is serious flaw in the opera sync, I will unistall the browser , it's a pity because I like Opera. I was actually thinking to reset my encryption phrase for the Syncronized data but with no avail, the option is grey out on my desktop and on my mobile phone app. I don't understand what is the problem here, this should really be reviewed by the developer. Until then I will use another browser. Again it is a pity....

Update. I found the rese passphrase in opera mobile app, but altrough there is syncdata, the app tells me that there is nothing to be sync and doesn't allow me to reset the passphrase....

@boldy-82 exact same issue. Years of bookmarks and saved data gone. Second time it's happened ... sorry it's a real loss for me. Very upset with Opera.

@dewjones I understand you, this is a really bad flaw paticulary if someone have the bookmarks of lifetime. Luckyly for me I have them on my other laptop which are synchronized and they are there even on my mobile opera app but not on my desktop from which I tried to log in again and try to sync again but with not luck. I'm pretty sure 100% that the encryption phrase is that one so no doubt about that. Firefox on this doesn't fail, I never notice a flaw on their browser. Again it is a pity opera it's much more faster than firefox and have chrome web store which firefox doesn't have but it has its own. I like many things about opera, from its sidebar to the look of it. So I feel very sad, I will try to recover the bookmark on my mobile app. On this I would like to ask where opera app stored its bookmarks I want to see if I'm actually able to import them on here. The stupid thing however is that it doesn't allow to reset the encryption phrase this is really the bad flaw since the app thinks there is nothing to sync

I have an update, now the browser deleted all my bookmarks on my latptop, which before they were actually sync and it is actually synching my desktop which had no bookmarks with the other two so I guess it will sync also with my mobile errasing all the bookmarks even there. I will unistall opera, this is really bad flaw and it should be really addressed ASAP. Until then no opera ever again

@boldy-82 Ok I solved the issue you should actually pin it up. It seems like that android hold the sync so what I did is:

                  1. I use my laptop and go to opera.com/connect
                  2. I went to my opera app on android mobile and go to the section syncronizzation and backup in the option menu.
3)I go to connect device always with android app
4)on PC a click on synchronize your data and it will reveal a QR code
                  3. on android opera app click connect it will give you your mobile's camera. Scan the Qr code and magic! You get all the bookmark of your mobile and they actually sync to each other

Of course this work only if you have bookmark on android app so who have them never use the sync option on Pc but use first android opera app to sync the PC

If you're experiencing issues with bookmark sync between Opera on your PC and mobile phone, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

Ensure you're using the latest version of Opera on both devices. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements, so keeping your software up to date may resolve the syncing problem.

Check your internet connection on both devices. Stable internet connectivity is crucial for successful sync. Make sure you have a reliable connection and try again.

Double-check that you're using the correct encryption phrase. The encryption phrase is necessary to protect your synced data, and entering it incorrectly could prevent bookmarks from syncing properly. Make sure you're using the exact phrase you set up initially.

Sign out and sign back in to your Opera account on both devices. This can help refresh the sync process and resolve any temporary issues.

If the problem persists, consider disconnecting and reconnecting the sync feature. On both your PC and mobile phone, go to the sync settings in Opera and disconnect the devices. Then, re-enable the sync feature and follow the prompts to set it up again.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may want to reach out to Opera's customer support for further assistance. They can provide more specific guidance based on your situation and help troubleshoot the problem in more detail.

@gekamon yes and the best one is! Switch to Firefox! Had enough of this rubbish browser. The chimps who are suppose to fix things are breaking more things than they fix!

You can't even backup your extensions if you need to reformat your computer! You have to go through the whole process of reinstalling them again as if you have you have time to do this? Where as with Firefox you just copy the profile folder then once you have installed Windows and Firefox again all you do is copy the profile folder back over again

Is there any good reason why Opera is not the same?

Wish I knew all this before I started using it.

@cybagirlgaming yes and no, on my point of view opera is a good browser , but the sync is a feature that need to be review. Yes indeed, also that is bad , the fact that you cannot sync your extension is terrible but for me the sync it's a priority and a must. However by fallowing my step if you have opera on mobile you can easily sync it with your PC and it actually works

                          Regards

In my personal opinion, Opera is an excellent browser overall, but there is room for improvement when it comes to its sync feature. While Opera offers various functionalities and performs well, the inability to sync extensions across devices is a significant drawback. This limitation can be frustrating, as extension syncing is often considered an essential feature for seamless browsing experiences. However, it's worth noting that if you follow a specific method, you can successfully sync Opera between your mobile device and PC, which can alleviate some of the syncing concerns. Despite the existing drawbacks, the sync feature remains a priority and a crucial aspect for many users like myself who value the convenience of synchronized browsing across different platforms.
