Update not executed

I have Opera version 97.0.4719.83 installed on a Windows 10 computer. I get: Restart Opera to update to version 98.0.4759.15, but when I do that it does not execute the update and remains on version 97.0.471983.
What can I try to get the latest update?

@leocg No I did not, do I just download the latest opera version and run the installer on top of the existing opera? Will I lose any settings, bookmarks etc?

There are a few things you can try to update Opera to the latest version:

Check if there are any pending Windows updates that need to be installed. Sometimes, if Windows updates are not installed, it can prevent software updates from being applied.

Try manually downloading and installing the latest version of Opera from the official website. Go to https://www.opera.com/ and download the latest version of Opera for your operating system. Install it and see if the update is successful.

Try resetting Opera to default settings. Sometimes, browser extensions or settings can interfere with updates. To reset Opera, go to Settings > Advanced > Reset Settings, and then click "Restore settings to their original defaults." After resetting, try updating again.

If none of the above solutions work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall Opera. Make sure to backup your bookmarks and other important data before uninstalling. After reinstalling, try updating again.
