Why do I (you) still keep using older (v12) version?

I've installed Opera V20 but the lack of email and clunky interface are a deal breaker.
I'll migrate to Chrome
Sigh, how coherent!
Which must have a hidden embedded email client which no one knows about (much like Classic Opera), Otherwise why migrate ?. The mind boggles

The problem is that y'all keep looking for logic in an illogical situation. Much of this is about disappointment, frustration, anger, and getting even ("I'll show you!)... such emotions usually exist independent of logic.

You readily admitted you have no other reason for being here other than to annoy.
You really don't understand the concept of a joke, do you.

I still don't like the way bookmarks are handled in Opera 20. The personal bookmarks toolbar at the top of the browser is fine for one's most used bookmarks, but if you have a lot of bookmarks (the way I do), you also want a bookmarks menu item, the way Opera 12.15 handles it, with a vertical display of ALL of the bookmark folders (and also, that is the way Chrome 33 handles it, the way Firefox 27 handles it, the way Internet Explorer 11 handles favorites. What these other browsers all seem to do is a minimum for bookmark -- both a personal bookmarks toolbar, and bookmarks menu item. And Opera 20 still doesn't do it. It's incredibly frustrating. What is Opera's problem. This is something that ought to be fixed quickly. So I'm still using Opera 12.16, and also now Chrome 33.

I keep using Opera 12.16 because it is customizable and because I don't like some behaviors of the Opera's new generation (like new tabs and the progress bar). Try type opera:config on the address bar in each version, opera 12.16 have hundreds of items that you can choose.

You all missed 2 critical points :
1- Fast Forward : for when you're on a forum and want to see next page, you go there with a gesture
2- Save page as .MHT ... more convenient
For the rest, I have to go with the family, because built-in features are better than :
- Mouse gestures + Rocker Gesture
- Session Manager -> because buil-in manager kept all the visited before instead of just the page opened in the tab.
- Bookmark manager
- Customizable search engine
- download manager
For mail, why don't people use opera mail or any other mail client ?!? Don't really understand this request

I understand. BUT (and this is a rather large BUT) you do understand, do you not, that the browser is no longer being developed nor will it be in the future. That simply means that over time more and more sites will not load properly in addition to the browser becoming a security issue. You might want to think about that versus the infinite configuration.

Ouch, the fanbois are out in force.
Apologies for expressing my dismay at a product devolving from being a market leading browser to skinning an oppositions product. In that case I might as well use Chrome and have access to a larger development base. It's fairly obvious I'll need to use a separate email client with any option.

Opera 12.16 is very rich with feature and customizable User Interface (UI). But Opera 15..20 is very poor in feature and customizable UI. If Opera developer want to use new browsing engine of new Opera why don't include the excellent of feature and UI to new version Opera ?

Their PR team said that UI's swap wasn't technically possible. Bu i have no trust in this statement.
They simply cut the spendings with the abandoning of desktop browser (new Opera is not browser anymore, it's just a shell of Chromium/Blink). -

I didn't find a way to export my saved passwords to the new opera
This is easy but you'll probably lose your current Opera 20+ profile (all the Speed Dials, bookmarks and passwords you've saved until now). Follow the same procedure that imports bookmarks, as it also imports passwords:To import your profile from another installation, open the Run dialog (Windows Key + R) and use this command:
"Full Opera Blink installation path\launcher.exe" --presto-small-prefs-dir="Full Opera Presto profile path\profile"

As for me, I am pretty disappointed that Opera is now like a clone of Chromium. The Opera (Pesto) is faster in response and has more features built in. I remember using Opera since the mid 1990s and I love it. Since then, it was only Opera as my main browser, using Firefox only to render some websites. Now that Opera has reolutionalized, I have switch to Chromium indefinitely. Sometimes, I still reminisce and use the Opera Pesto
Well everyone moves on for their best benefit right? I just wish Opera all the best. I am happy enough that I can still get hold of the old Opera Pesto.Pesto is a sauce made with basil, cheese and olive oil, Which has nothing to do with Opera the browser.
I guess you must mean Presto ?, The heart of the Classic, Original (and best) version of Opera.lol, the irony is that blink is kinda cheesy.

I still use Opera 12.16 because of its bookmarks pane. I have over 9000 bookmarks. The Opera 20 bookmarks bar can handle that number of bookmarks (spread across two folders) but it's very slow, taking 12 seconds to display the bookmarks each time I open one of the folders. Opera 12.16 is instantaneous.
Also, I can't see any way of filtering/searching the bookmarks in Opera 20. I use the bookmarks quick find in Opera 12.16 all the time.
That having been said, I've started using Opera 20 as a secondary browser to handle the pages that don't render in Opera 12.16 well (eg the new Yahoo Mail). I'm looking forward to being able to ditch Opera 12.16 completely since it's having increasing problems with different web sites. The browsing experience is much better in Opera 20, I have almost no problems. If the bookmarks issue was fixed I'd ditch Opera 12.16 in a heartbeat.

@simontewsg
Have you tried 12.14 ?, It has much better site compatibility than 12.16, as found by me and many users here on this and the old Opera forum. -
