This is for 20.0.1387.64, the title says it all πŸ™‚ Is there an ETA for a bookmark manager in Opera, including 'Bookmark' menu and not to mention a Bookmark and Settings Import ?

      Thanks!
      Uli

Bookmark manager will be implemented at some stage. The bookmark bar, stash and speed dials are there for you at the moment. You can try to install an extension such as this one https://addons.opera.com/extensions/details/bookmarks-manager/ to help you manage your bookmarks.

I save my bookmarks to folders (and sub folders) on the bookmarks bar and have my most frequently used ones on speed dial. To me it's almost like a horizontal bookmarks manager. Each to their own though!

I've got the bookmark bar, but all my bookmarks that worked until I updated a few hours ago seem to be missing. But I did find that I have a file ~/Library/Opera/bookmarks.adr, and it seems to contain all the URLs that I had in my old bookmarks. Is there any way to point to it and say "Load all this stuff to the new bookmarks bar?" Or do I have to redo it all by hand?

I am glad that I switched to this browser to get away from chrome right when they "upgrade" to being a lower functioning version of Chrome.

What is the point of having synchronization with 20 if you can't do squat?

I guess I will go back to Google and Chrome getting in my business till 20 is squared away. Thank you to all those who work so hard to make 20 possible, but I don't know why you would release without all features.

They need to Trash the worthless Stash" and install a real Bookmarks System, Manager and Sync! Defying reasoning and logic to be different for the sake of being different, IS IDIOCY! Remember Ignorance can be corrected. Without a legitimate Bookmark system, Opera will never be mine or many others, Default Browser. Speed Dial is great in a Mobile Browser, but on a Desktop Browser, I want and need to have a Home Page and a Homepage Button in the toolbar. Remember "CHOICE" let me choose. Death to Idiocy, Dictators, Automatons, Oligarchies and Fascism!

I see Stash as the same as Firefox's 'Unsorted Bookmarks' in that you click on the (heart) icon to quickly bookmark a page temporarily.

A bookmarks manager should run alongside Stash and Speed Dial imo. Funnily enough, only today, after updating Opera Dev to v22 did I see the need to export my Opera 20 bookmarks to import into Opera Dev! Oh well, seems like I need a bookmarks manager after all!!;).

Opera's ability to handle to handle bookmarks was once the best. Sadly it has gone down the toilet. Somebody has lost their way completely and is no longer capable of seeing things from the user's perspective. In Opera 25/15 (I can't even figure that out) you cannot even sort things alphabetically! That is pathetic, sorting things is basic school computing. Opera need to get a grip or they are history.

Has there been any real improvement on this? Sure, there has happened stuff to the bookmarks, but they are still far from useable. I would like the old, hierarchical view back!

Unless I have missed something, there is no easy way to bookmark a page and put in a designated folder. Sure, I hit bookmark and arrow down, but there I only see the first five or so folders with no means of navigation.

Also, if I want to move a bookmark you need to have the bookmarks in folder view to do so and there is no way to navigate the hierarchy easily. Only one level at a time.

The newest beta version includes a hierarchical view to put any bookmark in any designated folder.

And it includes that too :).

If you're interested in testing the beta version (it won't override your main Opera installation or profile), take a look at http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/ . Otherwise, if you wait a few weeks, the beta version will become the stable version and you'll get these features automatically πŸ™‚

Sounds promising. I downloaded to test on a separate machine, but then searched in vain for a way to export my bookmarks? Nevermind, copied bookmarks.*. How do I activate the hierachical view?

It's activated by default, so you should be able to see it both in the bookmark manager sidebar and in the bookmark pop-up (the one that appears when you click the heart button to bookmark a page).

Yesss!! Works. Only thing that is slightly confusing is when I have a page active and then hit the heart to bookmark. I can then drill down to the desired folder, but the "dialog" remains on screen and there is no visible indication that it has indeed ended up in the right folder. It does say bookmark added though.

The way I had in in the old days was to have the bookmark pane to the left of the windows and then just drag bookmarks there.

But yes, it is getting better all the time. Getting so much better all the time!

@andersgustafsson Perhaps this Sidebar extension https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/v7-bookmarks/?display=en will bring you closer to your ideal? Should work in Stable too. I haven't tried it so I don't know if dragging actually works, but the description seems to suggest it does πŸ™‚
