Im i blind? Where are these features/options which made Opera great and distinguished it from the dumbobrowsers like Mozilla or Safari?

      1. Why new tab opens not near but at the end of all 100 tabs i have ?
      2. why there is no option to remove x delete button on the tab?

Also where are F12 quick settings allowing to switch on and off Javascript, Add-ons etc when you visit suspicious sites in Russia and China?

From versions 15+ on, the Opera browser is no longer based on the Presto rendering engine, but on Blink, the engine of the Chrome browser.

A great number of features that were available in Presto (last browser version with it: 12.16) are no longer available under Blink.

That includes the F12 quick settings, and the configurability of the user interface, e.g. for the removal of buttons.

As for the positioning of newly opened tabs, maybe you can find an extension that offers a solution here:
        https://addons.opera.com/en/search/?query=tabs

And of course, you can always uninstall Opera 20 and return to 12.16…

Try searching the addons for "classic tabs". Indeed, Opera is a far cry from what it used to be. It may get back there at some point, but for now it is just a clumsy mess for the people that used to like it.

It renders pages faster, this has to be admitted, but nearly all the productivity features are gone.

I do not like to use extensions. With extensions i'd go to any other browser and forget Opera which crashing still takes into oblivion all my Sessions and History. I wrote here about this several times in 10 years. If it will happen again and those features above will not be reinstated, i will turn from Opera lovers who promote Opera to Opera haters like 99% of other people

Personally I do not care about how minuscule faster it renders now, never did and never will. I did not use other "faster" browsers for that they are "faster". Besides i never noticed something is fast or slow starting from Netscape. For that i buy faster hardware or overclock it. Or have faster network. That makes browser fly so you do not notice what is inside - not just some pure "engine speed" in artificial benchmarks. I may notice that browser has errors rendering some pages, and that's all i care about engine.

I DO CARE that i can not stop now the flood of video ad at each and every page i visit, or catching a hacks in attachments if i can not quickly disable and re-enable Javascript of AddOns using F12. I do care that when i start Opera all my 100+ tabs start playing music simultaneously sucking the network like vampires

The developers can use any engine they want, the features we are talking about have NO RELATIONSHIP to any engines. This is suicidal for Opera to be one more sh#tty browser removing its best features and copy only worst things of others. It takes less then couple pages of text and couple hours of time for one novice programmer to return all great features back like tabs settings, F12 etc. Who are in charge of Opera now ? Never ever programmed bureaucrats ? What the heck they do with Opera?

Settings > Websites > Plugins. Enable "Click to play".

??? That suggestion does not work. All tabs start loading and playing (for example Youtube) when you start Opera

                    opera://flags/#lazy-session-loading -> active -> restart browser

maybe this can help you , this just loads the active tab, not the other ones.

So you are using html5 on Youtube?

                      You can try opera://flags/#lazy-session-loading

Opera has been offering extensions for ages, and many of them are very useful.

Please reconsider your refusal to use them, they could offer exactly what you need.

As for problems with Opera crashing and you losing sessions and history:

                        • I have never seen history getting lost when Opera crashes. It's always available after a restart, either in the history panel, or with Ctrl+H

                        • sessions can either be saved manually at any time, or you can configure Opera to "continue from last time" on start-up

You have not seen that happen because as i'm very much sure you do not run many tabs. Have ~100 tabs in the browser, work for a day so that it will not be in the cache, and then crash the computer (not Opera by itself) and you with 50% probability will get everything lost without the trace. You also can do that with Firefox, Safari, IE and Chrome - none of them will lose anything lately, only Opera does because i suspect it has opened Save file and Copy file (for crash protection) at the same time - that i consider as a huge programmer's fault. I wrote about that several times (I do not know about this version of Opera, i had the one with F12)

Sessions are also lost in computer crashes but I do not see Sessions in New Opera too - another "improvement" for Opera lovers or i miss something? I feel that Opera Authors do not like people to use their browser for serious long term work.

If i will consider extensions (i use Opera for a decade or so and seen many of them appear and disappear, also many of them are written in Russia and China), then there will be no difference between Opera and other browsers, i will use another browser.
There exist addOns which protect users from XSS and Clickjacking attacks and switching On/Off JavaScript and Addons on the fly. Older Opera had these features inside, new Opera does not which means only one - the Opera Authors DO NOT CARE ABOUT USERS

Well, I have to say keeping that many tabs open, and letting the browser run non-stop for a day - that is tempting fate.

A good many programs, Opera among them, will not release all the memory they have been using during long and intense sessions.

I suggest you save your current tabs every few hours, then close the browser. Restart, and open the saved session again.

If i will consider extensions (i use Opera for a decade or so and seen many of them appear and disappear, also many of them are written in Russia and China), then there will be no difference between Opera and other browsers, i will use another browser.

There many very capable programmers in China and Russia, not just malware producers, If you get extensions from the browser's official add-on sites, they have been checked for malicious code already.

I honestly don't get that "no difference between Opera and other browsers" part when you're using extensions. Good ideas are not limited to Opera - this browser was the first to offer a speed dial, or mouse gestures. Extensions, on the other hand, were first offered by FireFox.

How much of a difference does this make? Other browsers copied the speed dial, Opera adopted extensions. Users benefit from such an exchange of ideas and innovations.

Older Opera had these features inside, new Opera does not which means only one - the Opera Authors DO NOT CARE ABOUT USERS

Stick with Opera 12.16, or an even earlier versions. They are all still available for download.

As for the developers: they have to do what the managers tells them.

I'd like to, but the problem is that older versions are stopped being fixed and updated for all sorts of vulnerabilities

As to other suggestions, you can not update tabs every day, or even reload Opera every day with 100 tabs, that is Gigabytes of traffic. I was doing that ones per month switching JavaScript and AddOns OFF to not allow to suck streaming content in all 100 tabs simultaneously. With Lazy-session-loading now i will still be stuck with unneaded annoying commercials which go before any your chosen video content.
I will be downloading all the online books again stopped at some page, i will harass friends whose pages will point them that i just visited their webpages and start asking me, LOL, etcetcetc. In one word, the new Opera is a hell. If older had 1% share among web browsers, the new one is DOOMED....

As i said above i always recommended Opera to everyone as light years ahead of others in experience but was wondering and surprised recently why my friends and colleagues after trying it were not switching

And what is this? Just found that when you click to open content in new tab the new Opera even doesn't switch on it automatically... I do not know what - to laugh or to cry.

Correct or even change the suicidal managers or Opera will be dead
