@originalburger What type of video file are you trying to add or is it an animated gif?

@burnout426 look, just saying, this seems a little complicated, is there any alternative? It seems complex, but I havent tried it, I tried the first few steps and to follow along but then Opera started getting weird, like "Relaunch Opera and Download Version 2.356378" Or something along those lines.

@animebotw The easiest way to do this is to click the Easy-Setup button, click "Add your wallpaper", and point it to your animated webp file. That's it.
Goto https://mathiasbynens.be/demo/animated-webp, right-click on the animation and choose to save the webp file. Then, add it.
If your video is an mp4 or webm file, search for "m4p to webp" or "webm to webp" on the net for how to convert your file to webp.

@bluequadre There's https://ezgif.com/gif-to-webp and https://ezgif.com/webp-maker to help with that.

Worked for me! reminder that if you have a long video (mine was 1min long) it may take some time to start on first use.

@plasma If anyone is still looking for an answer. If you have a webp format file, just open it up in Opera and right-click on it and choose the option, Use image as wallpaper. More detailed info here if you need it: https://davescomputertips.com/how-to-convert-animated-gifs-to-webp/

@spthepero said in Custom Animated Wallpaper:
and then pasted it in the profile path
You have to add the zip via the "Add wallpaper" button in the Easy Setup menu in Opera.

@waffleguy520 Go to opera://settings/wallpapers (copy it to address bar), click on the Add your wallpaper (or something like that) button, select the file you want to upload, click on open. Simple as that.

@kazbodnar If you added the zip file, Opera should just switch to that wallpaper. But, if not, goto the end of the wallpaper thumbnail list to see if the wallpaper you added is there and select it.

@burnout426 I've been having an issue were my animated wallpaper seems to go into a static image after a short amount of time. I was wondering if you could help me in any way, with this issue

@zoroth-thexallmighty If you zip it up, upload it somewhere, and link to it, I can download it and see what it does for me.

@burnout426 I'm a mac os user and I'm unable to get the the file folder for themes. Finder is also saying webm isn't supported when I try to add my own theme via the easy setup menu. Is there a way around this? I've already tried searching for the directory in Terminal...
