Is there a way to invert cmd+shift+click and cmd+click?

I recently migrated from another browser where cmd+click (or ctrl+click in Windows) was "open link in new tab and select it" and cmd+shift+click (or ctrl+shift+click in Windows) was "open link in new tab but don't select it". I'm used to this way to browse, and I don't want to unlearn what I've known for years and learn a new behaviour.
I can't find a setting to change this behaviour. Is there something I'm missing or an extension that will do this for me?
Thanks in advance.
