There have been many posts for the past few months with concerns about the new direction of Opera.

Most are valid issues with a few being off topic rants.

However, more and more now, these concerns are being met with sarcasm and ridicule by two or three posters.

You know who you are. This type of condescending replies are ruining these forums.

I don't understand why the moderators don't reprimand these individuals.

I come here occasionally to see what's new, but some of the replies, (actually insults), by a few people are disgusting.

What they should do is ban users like you who start threads just to attack other individuals, and close or delete threads or posts that are just rants. It is the ranters and whiners who are ruining these forums — don't blame those who respond with sarcastic or condescending remarks.

This forum is closing in a couple of weeks. I hope that the new one is moderated more strictly, then we won't have so many rant threads, and there won't be any reason for regular members to flame those who post flame-bait.

Valid criticisms made without resorting to insults and profanity do not attract rebukes from regular members — at least nothing worse than “Please search before posting” when a valid point has been made at least a dozen times before.

I so welcome the forum purges. Time to cut the useless noise and return the forums to their intended use: Help.

Pesala, I attacked no one in particular. I am simply frustrated at the direction these forums are going in.

And you want to have me banned?

            Have a nice day.

Not you in particular, just anyone who starts threads to attack other members. We can guess who you mean, but whether you're referring to him, to me, or to someone else, it is still unacceptable behaviour.

Well, generally I would have guessed "I" was his target but evidently that number is plural so you might want to hazard a more inclusive guess, Pesala.

My question is: Is it two OR is it three? I mean, if you're not sure whether it's two or three, doesn't that suggest something else is afoot here? Perhaps just guessing and messing? The guessing is obvious. The messing involves starting threads that are in violation of the terms of service. THAT, my critical friend, is messing.

Yep, and 2 out of the 3 vehement Opera defenders who spend all of their free time here were the first to reply to your thread. What a surprise!

And tell me... if we weren't here, would anything of substance be accomplished? Not a single, solitary thing. You would simply be crying in one another's beer for months on end. If it hasn't clued with you yet, it's now been over a year since the new direction. Presto is over and done with in spite of all the complaints and threats to abandon Opera. Bear in mind that the forums were set up to h-e-l-p posters resolve issues with their Opera suite. Complaining about missing features from a browser still under development does not fit into that stated purpose. Why, oh why, does that exceedingly simple fact escape people like you? Instead all you and your group can do is turn to personal attacks. And to what end? What changes has that strategy brought about in the Opera browser? So you malign me. Obviously I'm a paid shill to try and smooth troubled waters. Ha. If they're paying me to smooth over the complaints, I'm getting paid far too much since I've not been able to silence anyone during these many months. Your suggestions that I'm a paid shill are as ludicrous as your attempts to bring about change. It's not going to happen so deal with it.
