Opera deleting all tabs

When you open a new window and close the old one, then reopen the old window, opera deletes all your tabs no matter if you had the setting on or not, I lost 100 tabs that I use to work very often and now I have to open them all back, lost data on many things as well

@dannyboy1g And what exactly is the problem? You said you've closed the window with the tabs. You are trying to reopen the closed window from the History menu or from the tabs search and it's coming emptied?

The "Retain tabs from previous session" option at the URL
opera://settings/onStartup
means that Opera will retain tabs in all Opera windows that are still open when you exit Opera. When you have multiple Opera windows open and you close one of the windows, you're not exiting Opera. You're just closing one of its windows, which implies closing every tab in the window before destroying the window. To exit Opera, you goto "Menu -> Exit" or close the window when you only have one window open. With that said, don't close any of your Opera windows. Leave them open and use "Menu -> Exit" to exit Opera. When you start Opera, all your windows and the tabs in them will be restored.
Now, if you do close a window, you can click the magnifying glass at the top right of Opera and choose to reopen a tab from that window. When doing so, it'll open the tab back up in that window instead of the current. Same deal if you click on the entry on the
opera://history
page. But, you can't restore all the tabs in that closed window at once using those 2 methods. You might try Session Buddy or Tab Session Manager for something more advanced. The latter is supposed to have an option to save tabs in a window automaticall when you close the window.
Note though that you can right-click on a tab, goto "save" and choose "all in speed dial folder" to save all opened (or all selected) tabs in a window to a folder on your start page. You can then right-click the folder later and choose "open all in tabs" or "open all in new window". This save function works with workspaces in Opera too where the saving will be limited to tabs in the workspace you're in. Also, if desired, you can goto the URL
opera://bookmarks
and move the folder that you create to a different bookmarks folder if you want. You can also give the folder a name. -
