Opera blocks downloads

I cannot download anything with Opera: no pdf-print, no files etc.
The download windows ("save as") briefly appears and disappears within 2 seconds.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall, nothing changed.
Also I am not able to change teh default download location.
Can anyone help?

@palex1 Try resetting your settings. If necessary, also try using a new clean profile directory.

@leocg Hi, thanks. Did so several tims, also with reboot. No problems with the default download folder. If a i try to change the folder it happens again.

@palex1 What exactly happens if you try to change the download folder?

@leocg The "save as" windows opens briefly and closes within 1-2 seconds. opera goes into the background.
