      Hi !
I want to install Opera V 49.0 on my Macbook pro 13" Mid 2014, because thats the latest version that runs on Maverick, I read.
Where can I find it and how can I avoid that it updates automatically ?
The problem is, that I can't update to Big Sur, even if I'd like to. It doesn't even show the option, even if it should be supported.
      Here I found some information: https://forums.opera.com/topic/25811/is-there-an-available-version-of-opera-for-os-x-10-9-5-mavericks ,
      but not all.
      Thanks guys !

@martant The answer for where to download it is in the topic you mentioned.

If version 49 is the latest with support for that OS, it will not be auto-updated. But in the FAQ you can check the command to stop automatic updates.

@leocg thanks, but if I download opera I get automatically the newest Version which cannot be installed on Mavericks...
I get the message, that I need Macos 10.11...

When downloading there is no option to choose any older Version, so I ' d like to know where I can download Version 49.0. (virusfree !)

          Thanks !

@martant From where are you downloading Opera? As I said, in the topic you linked in this one, there is the address for downloading old versions of Opera.

              @leocg thanks, i've downloaded it and i can open it;
is the source get.opera.com an official page ? do you know ?

              1. I've inserted: "defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPDisableAutoUpdate true" in the terminal window and pressed the ok , is that ok , to prevent it from updating automatically ?

              3. @1940-pitmon There is problem with our autoupdate server which started to serve new version to unsupported systems on macOS. We are already working on fixing this.

              4. Sorry for this inconvenience.

              5. Thanks @concretable for your help.

It seems that this problem has not been fixed yet ( TWO years ago !)

              Thanks again !

@martant Yes, it's a official address (notice the opera.com), it's another way to go to the Opera's FTP: https://ftp.opera.com/

And yes, that command should prevent auto-updates, although they won't happen. Yes, the issue is fixed.

@martant VPN was introduced in version 40, so version 49 should have it. Did you enable it in settings?

@leocg i found it in the settings, but as soon as i check the box, it doesn't connect to the internet, even if vpn is not turned on in the Textline (the Button remains orange )...
do have any idea about that ?

@martant Maybe it's due to it being a very old version.
In fact I don't remember if version 49 had the old or the new VPN, most probably it was the old one.

I'm wondering if it Opera would update on it's own to the version supported by the OS no?
I was on Version 34 on my iMac late 2012 currently running El Capitan and it updated to version 51 without issue. It's now on version 75 and I'm currently using it to type this message. I just had to keep going back to About Opera and clicking that Relaunch Now button until it was up to date.

@hyun-shik As far as I know, yes, it should update to the last supported version.

@hyun-shik maybe you can tell me how to update my Macos , currently its Mavericks. I'm using a Macbook pro 13" from Mid 2014, which should be supported by Big Sur. I only read about some issues with the trackpad (little delay) as well as with the typing.
If I open software update and press ok, it just updated some stuff, but did not update to a higher version.

If i download opera normally without selecting a specific version , then I cant install it; I get the message to update my system minimum to macos 10.11

                              Thanks for your help 😉

                                @martant Go to opera://about for auto-update.

Or download the last version that supports your OS.

@martant I'm thinking don't update yet. Try to get Opera fixed before you update your OS and get stuck with it.

What I would try is to click Opera in the top bar while it's open.
                                  I click Opera>About Opera
It then takes you to where it tells you which version you are running. On my iMac it was Version 30 something. All I did was click on Relaunch and it updated to like version 45. This still wans't the latest version when I went back to Opera>About Opera so it asked me to relaunch again Then it updated me to version 55. After the relaunch I opened About Opera again and it said relaunch again so I did and then I was on version 75. What you can do if this works for you is stop when you get to the versions 50+ if you are saying that is all that will work on Mavericks.

Like I said my iMac is on El Capitan and version 75 still works fine. I read in the Opera Support Documentation that it is recomended that all users update to the latest version of Opera so I wasn't aware of certain versions being only available for certain Operating Systems. I was looking for the documentation on which version is for Mavericks to help you out; I searched all night and couldn't find this information.

@hyun-shik in About opera there is this:
                                    Versionsinformation

Version: 49.0.2725.64 - Beim Prüfen auf Updates ist ein Fehler aufgetreten (error occured proofing updates)
                                    Update-Stream: Stable
                                    Betriebssystem: Mac OS X 10.9.5 64-bit

and I just tried the oldest and youngest version 50.x; same thing , i get the message that I need macos 10.10

the strange thing is, that in software update of macos i don't get any option to update to a higher version of macos, like 10.10, if this has the actual VPN access.
Any ideas of how this could work ?

@martant Are you running the VPN while trying to update?

                                      Screen Shot 2021-04-19 at 2.12.01 PM.png

These are my specs. I was able to get it to install. The reason you are not able to install is because Mavericks supported 32-bit. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208436#:~:text=Apple has been working with,no longer compatible with macOS.
The new Opera Software is most definitely 64-bit. As you are showing me here "Betriebssystem: Mac OS X 10.9.5 64-bit"

Also the fact you are getting an "error occurred proofing updates" that means there is something wrong with your Opera Application. Have you tried uninstalling it? Have you tried installing earlier versions of Opera instead of V 49.0? Like I said I was on 30 so try that. You should have no issue with it updating automatically since you can't even get it to do that manually.
