format of my gmail and facebook

I restarted my computer. This also happened once after I cleared the cache and so on ... my facebook and gmail revert back to a very simple version, almost looks like html ... What setting do i need to change so my gmail and facebook are more current looking ? i have a windows 8.1 system on my laptop . thanks

@polkatornado It's something dome by the sites, somehow they think that you are using a browser that doesn't support the current layout.

Go to opera://update/, click on check for updates, wait for the process to end and see if it helps.

Also follow the instructions if you haven't done it yet.

@leocg thanks. it told me that it updated, and nothing changed.. and what or where exactly did you intend for me to " follow directions " ? _________________ also my hp laptop have anything to do with the issues ? ___________________ much appreciated .. joe

@leocg and yes, after running the "opera update" , I restarted my computer, and still my facebook and gmail are in an "archaic format"
