Targeting a link to open with a side-bar app

I have an observation which I am not sure would be categorizable as Bug or Suggestion.

In Whatsapp we have some special links called https://wa.me/<mobilenumber> and when you use these Whatsapp web will automatically open the chat window. With opera when we use Sidebar what happens is it will try to open Whatsapp in the browser tab (with or without a QR code verification)

But as of now I do not think Opera has a capability to target links to open up the Sidebar app and hence in the above situation the sidebar gets logged out.
