youtube video goes blank when i tab out of opera

youtube video goes blank when i tab out, but when i go back in the video reappears after a few moments. i've uninstalled flash (as i heard that caused issues for people having youtube videos turning blank), i've also turned off hardware acceleration for opera and uninstalled all my plugins to see if it changed. nope, still same issue.

i tried out edge and internet explorer, both did not have this issue. what gives?

this is what it looks like. it's black if i put it in theater mode. oddly enough if its in fullscreen this doesn't occur
