How safe is Opera VPN

Hi,
Been using Opera VPN for few months.
When I used it, BitDefender gave some notice about browser safety and people could change settings on my PC.
During that time I didn't think much of it and just pressed ''fix'' and it never showed that message again.
However I feel like people have had access to my PC for some weird reason, even though I never had any virus detected on my PC.

My question is; How safe is Opera VPN to use? is Opera familiar with this message from Bitdefender and is it possible people can ''hack'' my computer through VPN Opera usage?

@ezzy Opera VPN is basically a proxy that hides your IP address. I don't think it can be used to access your computer.
