Do not update to 71. It destroys your browser. Your O Menu will no longer work. There will be no way to right click. The font sizes will be blown up to a point where everything looks ridiculously large. Password fields no longer work properly, etc...
Be wary. Alert !!!

@l33t4opera: hello, I did a check in private windows and the problem is still exist. Only disabling hardware acceleration fixes the problem.

"Search in tabs" doesn't always show closed tabs started from the search box on the Speed Dial page, while the extension "Undo Closed Tabs Button" does.

Hi @eugene-b, if an extension is allowed to run in private mode, it can still be a culprit in such cases.
Instead of disabling HWA, can you check if enablingopera:flags#disable-accelerated-2d-canvas
helps in your case?
Alternatively, instead of completely disabling HWA, please check if one of the following makes a difference: disableopera:flags/#enable-skia-renderer
or run the Opera with the switch--disable-gpu-compositing

Hi @johnd78, it might be GPU-related, but if I am not mistaken, in various cases some extensions could also cause such issues.

@l33t4opera: it's the same with all extensions disabled. The chrome://flags/#disable-accelerated-2d-canvas worked! I see the waveforms now. Thanks! Is it ok if I leave it disabled?

Hi @treego, perhaps you have disabled the option "Pressing Tab on a webpage highlights links..." under Settings > Appearance?

Not in this case. This issue is related to GPU hardware acceleration like @eugene-b. Since there is no such problem in the 86th chromium, I hope the Chromium devs will fix it in Chromium 85 too.

@l33t4opera Yes, disabling
chrome:flags#disable-accelerated-2d-canvas
helps. Thank you! -

@eugene-b Not a problem, nice to hear that this helped
;-)
What do you mean by if you leave it disabled? Isn't it better to have HWA enabled and the fixed issue at the same time? -

@treego I see, here it works when the option is turned on, and when you disabled it, it doesn't. Perhaps you can toggle it, I mean switch it off and on again, maybe something is broken with remembering the state of it in your case.

@johnd78 Not a problem
;-)
I see, here it shows the forms no matter if the flag is enabled or disabled.
On your previous comment: if it works in Chr 86, it's fixed already, so it's only a matter of backporting it to 85. -

@l33t4opera: I meant to have canvas disabled and enable the flag. It's better for sure, than completely disable HWA. I'll wait for a fix from Opera or Chromium also.

@treego Maybe it's something specific in your case. Perhaps someone else can reproduce it, and maybe then we will be able to figure it out.

@eugene-b Maybe I don't get something, but as you can see in the description of the flag it "Enables the use of the GPU to perform 2d canvas rendering instead of using software rendering", so in that case the canvas are hardware accelerated.
Anyway, it should work in both cases, so adding the fix should solve the issue completely.
