Tested in Opera 68.0.3608 and it simply does not work. Does nothing. My tabs are all loading in slow motion whenever I reopen Opera, as usual...
Uninstalled.
(Probably this worked on the old version of Opera who do not was loading the tab in slow mode).
Should be updated to work again, if possible.

It stopped working after some Opera update that did nothing other but break useful extensions.

It'd be great to be able to unload tabs during a session. Adding "unload other tabs" or "unload tabs to the left/right" to the tab context menu would be amazing!
