if it does not install from the opera extensions, go to the chrome webstore using the opera browser and near the address bar there should be an option to install the chrome opera extension

@XeruTec I already had the chrome browser installed but could not get the "install chrome extensions" to install when going through the Opera "get more extensions" tab. Every time, it just crashed but then I used the Opera browser to open the "Chrome web store" and installed it from there and it worked.

@leocg After reinstall the app and installing chrome, it worked for me too. I don't know why i had to install chrome but my button changed to "Add to opera" again.
Same thing for me, strange but at least its working now

Hello. I've used opera for a long time before on my old pc, and then everything with "install chrome extensions" was fine. Then, when I got new pc, I installed opera, and then opera gx (when it came out). In first months chrome extensions were installing normally, but recently I tried to download PreMiD addon, so I clicked "add to opera" button, it took me to extensions page, but then nothing showed up. I tried reinstalling opera gx aswell as opera (it's not working on regular opera too), but nothing happened either. And it comes to every chrome extension, not PreMid only. Any solutions?

@leocg it still doesn't work for me. although it works on other accounts. i tried manually grabbing extension folder from opera's user files on that account, to my main account, but it still doesn't work.

also, when i downloaded the extension itself to a .CRX file, double clicking on it, aswell as drag and drop to opera extension page won't work either

Ok, I FINALLY figured it out.
Here's what to do:- Find your wanted chrome extension (I'll use PreMiD for example)
- Copy the link
- Go to Chrome Extension Downloader
- Click download. Then .CRX file will download.
- Go to CRX Extractor
- Select your downloaded .CRX file from your computer, or drag and drop
- Click "Get Source Code". A .ZIP file with raw exntension file will start downloading
- Unpack it to whatever location you like (eg. desktop)
- Go to
opera://extensions
, switch on "Developer mode" in the top right corner, click on "Load unpacked", search for upacked .CRX extension folder and select it
You're done!
Hope it'll help some other people with this problem.

If it doesn't work for you, I've checked it, and the problem is that this addon doesn't like query strings in URL (interrogation and all that follows). You must access Chrome Web Store through Opera; if it doesn't show green colour at gear or extensions don't show "Add to Opera" button, then, click in URL shown in search bar, delete "?hl=" (where "" is your location) and press Enter. The page will reload and then wil show properly all the options for Opera. Easy trick!!
