New homepage has a slew of very unwelcome news pages

Since the update, there are a gazillion (okay, 99) news pages populating the bottom of my homepage. Any of the 'settings' gizmos will only let me open these, not get rid of them. Right click, left click, all the same.
Any suggestions?
I don't want this cluttering up my life! Thanks. -
