Is there any way to use the google assisted dictionary with opera? I know years ago it used to be optional for chrome to use google search as a way to help get better spell check. I think it's baked into Chrome at this point though since it proved to be successful. Cause like i just typed Casino Royale, as in the movie, and Opera came back that Royale was spelled wrong where Chrome recognizes that as a movie title and leaves it alone. I went ahead and added Royale to my dictionary but this just pops up way too often in Opera where commonly used words of foreign origin or proper names get flagged as being misspelled.

My second problem is that ctrl shift v is listed as "paste in plain text" but most of the time when I use that to paste a link Opera tries to leave the page to open the link. On facebook this is okay cause facebook asks if you're sure you want to leave when you have something typed up but not posted yet. On other sites thought it can be a huge issue cause pressing back to come back to finish a post often gets me back without the text I've been typing having been saved at all. Thus requiring me to try and type it out by memory but half the time I just give up and choose to leave without completing what I'd intended to do. I just use a lot of sites were normal paste transfers the html attributes as well as the text and ruins the whole formatting of the post.

Third thing is... I forgot. 😞 oh yeah is there any way to prevent so many websites from recognizing Opera as a mobile platform? I can't think of any right off the bat but several times I've gone to various websites and been unable to see anything but the mobile version of their site which severely limits functionality.

I tried searching for answers to these but haven't had much luck. I mean hell I distrust google so much anymore I don't even use their search let alone wanting to be forced back to using Chrome. I mostly use Duck Duck Go and well it's just not as thorough.

@irmacguyver I've tried typing Casino Royale here and none of the words were marked as being incorrect.

As far as I know, Opera uses Chromium dictionaires, so it should get the same results as Chrome.

@irmacguyver Where are you pasting it? It's a regular text box? It's a search field? What?

@irmacguyver Do you use more than one language for spell checker? Is the correct one selected?

@leocg I thought I already said in the first post that it was the reply field or post field of different sites and even gave Facebook as an example since it stops me from leaving the site without finishing the post.@leocg said in I've got 3 problems. @irmacguyver So when you paste something in a reply box, like the one used here, Opera tries to search/open what was pasted?

Yeah. Not always but most of the time. I haven't checked here but I'm on my phone now so I can't check. And this has been happening for a while so it's not the recent update everyone else is complaining about.

@irmacguyver Some examples of sites where you see it happening may be helpful.

Well I already said Facebook. Youtube does it as well. The dictionary was already english. And I still see no way to implement google as the spellchecker. It's really getting annoying using what ever the built in spell check is. Cause it's crap. Mistype something too poorly and you get no result and like I said it doesn't deal with proper names well at all.

The ctrl shft v doesn't make me move away from the current page on this forum though. It still happens on youtube and facebook though. Facebook blocks it. Youtube lets it happen and forgets anything I've been typing. Some other sites might open the link or create a search if it's just text but hitting the back button brings me back with the previous typed text still intact thanks to their own draft cookie functionality.

Also still noone has answered my question about how to fix sites like IMDB from seeing Opera as a mobile platform and giving me the mobile version of the site.

@irmacguyver Couldn't reproduce here. Pasting something in a reply/text field just does what it should do.
