[Solved]Missing Opea Icon
-

I have just built a new desktop PC and installed Windows 7 Pro x64.
Installed the latest Opera direct from the website and it installed OK but there is only a generic icon instead of the big red "O" that we all know. I have reported it to the Opera team and the only response I get is to say they have received my message. Nothing further will be done (apparently). I have searched the forums for "missing icon" and "missing Opera logo", etc. The only posts that come up are to do with files and tabs, etc. so no help at all. -

Right-click on the icon and choose Properties. In the Properties dialog click on Change icon (or in older versions click on the icon itself). Select the desired icon, then make sure to click Okay in both dialogs (the Icon chooser and the Properties dialog). Even if the dialog was already showing the right icon, this should force Windows to update the desktop icon properly.

In Opera's program files directory (see the URL
opera://about
for the install path location), does launcher.exe and opera.exe (in the latest version folder) have their icons? -

I found the launcher file you mentioned in C program files, opera. There is a simple generic icon there, not the big red "O".
The 2.4mb set up file is elsewhere, and it has a proper logo on it. -

Uninstall Opera (there's an option to keep your data if you want). Then, delete Opera's program files folder if it's there.
Then, download http://ftp.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/66.0.3515.36/win/Opera_66.0.3515.36_Setup_x64.exe, launch it, click "options", set "install path" to "C:\Program Files\Opera", set "install for" to "all users", adjust the rest of the options you like, and install. That should fix it.

@burnout426
Many thanks to ya. A full reinstall did the trick.
(426 burnout has to be a Mopar fan.) Respect. (but my burnouts were made with a 427 "rat".)
