@purple-cat Did you try cleaning cookies and cache? Also turn off extensions.

I already cleared my cookies twice. I did not turn off extensions. So, I have now turned off extensions. I rebooted Opera and the problem persists.

              @purple-cat So I guess it's clearly a site issue.

In Opera, goto the URL opera://settings/siteData, type facebook.com in the quick find field and then click "remove all shown".

Then, log back into facebook to see if you still get the message in Gmail. If so, goto https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=security&section=sessions&view and look at the "Where I'm logged in at" section and click "Log out of all sessions". If you don't see "Log out of all sessions", click "see more" at the bottom of the section and then you'll see it. Then, clear your facebook.com cookies again.

Just for good measure, you should change your facebook password.

Thank you so much for your working with me. That worked to clear the Iran login. But now I get the same email about a good local login! lol I will try to do it again. I have an appointment, so it will take me a bit of time. I changed my password also.

Today when I logged into gmail, I got the log in alert from Sept 3 from Iran again. And there are more web sites I cant' get to. IOW the problem is worse. ๐Ÿ˜ž I guess I'm forced to use another browser.

@purple-cat The alert shows the IP address of the connection? If so, it's your current IP address?

                        The IPs are different.

@purple-cat said in Login location from an odd country:

...And there are more web sites I cant' get to. ...

Can you give more details about what you mean (ie: what are some example sites and how the "can't get to" failures show up)? There is a possibility that your Facebook account has been hacked and is being accessed by someone in Iran (or purporting to show an IP that indexes to Iran) who is also using an Opera browser. A lot depends on the details of just how Facebook attempts to match IP origins and whether they include browser consistency in forming their alerts...

Chewy cut me off in the middle of a browsing session:
You don't have permission to access "http://www.chewy.com/?" on this server.

There was one more, but I need to leave for an appointment. I will probably be gone the rest of the day. Thank you again for really digging into this issue. Nancy

@purple-cat If you are sure that no one is accessing your account, then I guess that a program or even your ISP is using a different external IP address.

                                Hi,
About the IP, try IP Leak with Opera, its VPN and any other browser installed, then compare the info.
                                Post it if you like.

Then, Rename / Reset your Profile.

After that you could try to fix it, also paste old files to the new one would work but the problem could reappear, - take that in count - or leave it.

                                Just test what happens.

Back up / Rename your current profile.

                                Check if works.

                                Also,
Take the opportunity to make a Template Profile and organize a Backup plan.

SyncBack / Synkron would help on it - Win -.

@leocg I'm certain no one is accessing my account. I'm very careful about monitoring that type of activity. Yes, that is possible. I will contact my ISP. Thank you so much for all your advice. I'm sorry it did not solve my problem.

@purple-cat Those sites appear to be detecting a "foreign" IP for your data packets, just as is Facebook when giving its 'alert' message. What (if any) extension names are installed into your Opera? Also, if you go to Settings > Advanced > Browser > scroll down to System > click on "Open proxy settings". In the pop-up that opens, is there any entry in the "Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings --" box? Finally, what nation is your ISP located in, if you can share that?
