Is there a way to disable block with 'preview' image when adding a bookmark?

So I have Opera as a portable browser on USB drive (but I've tested in on SSD and HDD as well just to make sure it's not related to the USB speed or something).
The things is, when I'm adding a new bookmark, usually my Opera stops responding for 1-5 seconds. Usually I can see that the dropdown 'preview' image for that bookmark (when you add a new bookmark there's a preview of its content next to the heart symbol) is all black for a second or so right after Opera un-freezes before adding a preview image to it, so I have a feeling that this feature isn't doing well - at least with portable version. Is there a way to disable this feature? Maybe somewhere in the flags section, for example? -

That seems odd. I can understand that may be possible on a slow USB stick, but not on fast USB drive regular hard drive.
Do you have a lot of bookmarks? Slow internet connection (where it causes Opera to take a long time to fetch the preview image)?
I see it's not exactly a super-new issue. Has it always been like this for you?

I moved it to SSD. Internet is 100Mbps, but built-in VPN is enabled. Right now, for example, I have 60/30Mbps according to speedtest with VPN. Plus I've tested on regular (standalone) Opera as well yesterday.
Yes, I have a lot of bookmarks (few hundreds). In the bookmarks section though I don't have thumbnails, only favicons ('list' mode, the 3rd one, wiht 1 column only). And this problem is following me almost from the moment I started using Opera. It's not every single bookmark usually though, but rather... every 3rd one.
I have way more bookmarks in Chrome by the way, but since there aren't any thumbnails I've never expected any sort of freeze/lag in Chrome. Really wish there was a way to compelty disable these thumbnails.
