Hi... as the title of my post says, I am new to the "new" Opera. I like most of the newer features a lot however and do not see some of the older features that I always liked. Now... maybe they are there but I cannot locate them or they have been removed or "modified" in some way, that is why I am asking for help.

      Here are my questions.

1-- In older versions of Opera, it was very easy to customize the main TOOLBAR by configuring it any way you liked with various buttons of your choosing etc.... Can you still do this? Has the pathway to these settings changed? Like, when zi right-click on the toolbar, I used to have the CUSTOMIZE thing pop out at me.

2-- I used to love how when you right-clicked within a form you would have different options such as filling in a email addy, name or something. That was one feature I liked alot. Can you still do this? How?

Well... that should be enough to get me started. It just seems like maybe I have been away from my PC for too long and need to get back into the groove. <wink>

      Thanks in advance

      LEESA 🙂

        1. Nope, there is no toolbar customization in Opera Blink.

        2. It seems kinda limited currently. Check Settings > Privacy and security > Autofill

Unfortunately Opera has become a dry hump since it became just another Chromium fork. There's little to link it with the old Opera (Presto). Although there are (very) subltle differences, it's basically Chrome with an Opera badge. It's no longer customizable in any real sense of the word.

You may wish to look at Otter http://otter-browser.org. "Controlled by the user, not vice versa", they say. Sound familiar? And it's their aim to "...recreate the best aspects of the classic Opera (12.x) UI using Qt5." It's still in beta, but getting a lot of love and support 🙂

Thanks for the answers. Which begs the question, why would Opera abandon the browser with it's amazing features which many of us have come to enjoy for this new interface?

So.. now I am gonna seek alternatives. Thanks Gary for your suggestion.

One more question. What would be the latest version of Opera which still used the Presto engine? I would assume it would have some of the older features that I liked.

            Thanks again

This discussion took part in 2013 and has ended already. Basically Presto became kinda hard to maintain.

What would be the latest version of Opera which still used the Presto engine?

              Opera 12.18

Vivaldi browser is costumized version of Opera but it has big disadvantages because they run two engine, Chrome + UI engine.which make it soo slugish

Basically, yes. Some you may be able to get back to extensions, others you may not.
