Hi,
I am having a look at Opera 60 and am getting some confusing info from help pages and searches.
I would like to have the option of directing a search phrase to different search engines and the help pages I found say this is possible if I enable the separate search box, which I did but I still don't see any search engines other than the default.
Also, is there any way to get a search from the address bar or search box to open in a new tab by default.I use 'keepass' which works well in Firefox and Edge without any add-ons being installed but when ever I bring it up in Opera using the key combination all it offers is the opera log in I created instead of for whatever web site I am on, I tried adding the keepasshelper add-on but it does not work very well. Is Opera blocking keepass from getting the web page info somehow?

No, don't want to add custom search engines.
Found an extension called 'search all' that does what I want but I got the impression that this was built in, other browsers I use regularly have it as standard. -

Looking at the https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/search-all/ that was mentioned, it looks like the user wants a separate search field in the address bar like in Firefox where you can click the icon in the left of the field to switch what search engine is used for the field. While you can goto
opera://settings/userInterface
and enable the separate search box, the box doesn't have a search engine switcher. -

Not by default where you don't have to use any modifier keys. But, try instant search by pressing alt + space to see if you like that.

Hmm, not sure. I can try to check if I get a chance. Goto the URL
opera://settings/passwords
and make sure "offer to save passwords" is off though. If it's on, test Keepass again after turning it off. Also, checkopera://settings/shortcuts
to see if Opera has the shortcut you're using registered to some action. If so, maybe that action is interfering. If you think so, try removing the shortcut from the action to see if it helps. -

I found the add-on 'search all' gives me the option of using various search engines.
Tried alt + space on instant search from the icon on the side bar but the search box just disappears when I try that and nothing else happens.I am using keepass's default short-cut of ctrl+shift+a and don't think it is in use by opera though I am not sure if I described it properly, when I use the keepass shortcut I get the usual keepass box coming up which , in other browsers shows any login details for the web site I am viewing but in opera no matter what web site I am looking at when I use the keepass shortcut all I get is the box coming up with the login for this opera forum.
The opera setting save passwords is still on as it is useful when keepass is having problems but I tried turning it of and no difference.

I installed the Keepass program for Windows and didn't install any extensions for any of my browsers (you said it wasn't needed). But, the ctrl + shift + a shortcut doesn't bring up the Keepass program or anything. Do I not have things set up correctly to test?
