Separate profiles in Opera with: cookies, bookmarks, settings, extensions? One word: YES!
My proposals for changes in Opera (Google Document).
- There are not enough signs to put all the links here. -

The feature has been technically removed from Chromium by Opera
I wonder to know why.

...more than a year, 7800 views and only 16 votes including me. Is there another feature request where the action is? For me, not supporting multiple profiles is a deal breaker and that's why I'm using Chrome. Firefox has it but implementation is poor. Vivaldi now has it from chromium, needs to work on it a bit but Vivaldi doesn't provide an Android App so that's no option either. I really like Opera and it's features but they should start listen to their users like Vivaldi does and build an ecosystem with syncing (why Opera Touch cannot sync?) like Google does. Opera looks sooo cool since version 60 but why are they stopping halfway? -

Vivaldi browser already has the ability to create multiple profiles. And there is also the possibility to create a guest profile.

M forced to use opera beta for my other profile. This could b opera's tactic to force users to use beta.
M dyed in the wool hardcore opera fan, I couldn't switch to another browser. Even after it was sold to China or wherever.

@moongya1
You can use a command line switch shortcut "user data dir" and run many profiles on the same installation.

@zalex108 thanks for the tip, but its applicable for windows, i am on debian. there are other ways to achieve the same on linux as well but the fact remains that opera does not provide the profile feature natively and we have to use workarounds or use beta browser for separate profile. Nevertheless I appreciate your comment and tip. thank you and happy Easter!

I would like this as well. Switching between 3 Opera profiles is confusing, and a GUI way to start and switch between would be nice. Is the forums the best way for feature requests? I can live with using Chrome for multiple profiles, but I would like to stop using Chrome as I only have 16GB of memory and a 3 year old Intel i7 in my laptop.

Opera seems to be the only browser that does not support multiple profile ootb, ff, chrome, vivaldi they all do, not sure about safari. come-on Opera its 2019 multiple profiles is one of the basic features of a browser. Opera has always been ahead of the game in terms of adding features, sadly they have dropped the ball it seems

@moongya1 FWIW I don't think it's the most used feature of a browser. So I can get why they have not added it. Though I agree it does not seem to be a large feature request since it's available in Chromium base. If we have had a uservoice forum where we can vote on features Opera would have a better representation of what features are most important for their users.

@mholje Historically Opera has always added features on the basis of usability not popularity. History is witness to the fact that Opera was one of the first if not THE first to introduce speed dial when it was using presto as its browser engine.
You can say and I would agree that Opera is trend setter besides being blazing fast.
Opera is indespensible not because it implements popular "features" but useful ones. Flow is another of the firsts delivered by it(homerun). Chat widgets in sidebar again not popular but innovative and most importantly usefull.
So what I fail to understand is why is Opera not seeing the usability in providing user profiles?
Finally, you would be wrong if you think that Opera bases its deceisions on polls or popular opinions.
Opera is what it is because it does what is right not because it is approved by "polls"
anyway my DNA has meshed with Opera, no matter what they do, it would always be my gateway to internet

Like poetry. Well put!
I remember moving to Chrome having to install addons to port all the features from Opera. Glad to be back to Opera.

Welcome back! I still use chrome mostly for work since we don't have profile support yet. I dabbled in opera beta for work to keep things separate from my personal stable opera instance, but beta doesn't cut it for me. Chrome is way too smooth compared to Opera beta.
But an open promise, I will switch back to Opera for work as well the moment they introduce profiles.

When starting Opera (after the update I installed a minute ago) I see a little user icon in a blink of an eye (actually I had to record the screen and stop at that frame) - but I cannot find any option to make it appear permanently. Does someone know some more details here?

@moongya1 As someone who used Firefox until about 2 months ago, it does not support multiple profiles. You can do a work around like the one zalex108 suggested above and there is an extension that used to let you do it (it doesn't work with newer versions) but the browser itself doesn't give you the option.

@nesznoe zalex108's suggestion does not work for linux. But i have created a script to just move the personal profile folder as a backup and then load the separate work profile folder. This option works for linux without need to create another user account and open opera as that different user. The environment variable for the other user are obviously going to be different than yours so its not ideal solution unless you spend extra time in changing folder permissions and matching the environment variables.
I agree the browser itself does not provide that option natively. Thats my only gripe against opera, which otherwise is quite wonderful.

Hi,
Good you fixed it.Maybe it was a Double cuote related problem, I don't remember, but I think it starts after the Switch, rather before, as the Reddit comment.
I don't have a Linux to test, but, here are the Switches: https://peter.sh/experiments/chromium-command-line-switches/ and a G explain about user data dir on GChrome: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/docs/user_data_dir.md.
This explain would be better.
