      Thunderbird quite updating my Google gmail account. they want control of the gmail account. They rejected my gmail account when i didn't agree to there request. looking for a better email program. jp

        Any mail client will want to be able to read, send and delete email - otherwise what are you using it for? But this isn't the place for this discussion - this thread was about accessing Gmail through their website (using the Opera browser). I know, I'll split this thread and move your post (and my reply) to the Lounge.

          If you goto https://myaccount.google.com/security and turn on "Less secure app access" and log into Gmail in Thunderbird with IMAP on port 993 with SSL/TLS with "Normal password" authentication (as opposed to oAuth), you shouldn't have any problems.
