I use this site a lot on my phone ..

      https://www.mirror.co.uk/

and I also run adguard as my main ad blocking solution as well but every browser i've tried on my phone doesn't cope with the frames they use for advertising (i assume they're frames - it's a white box at the bottom of the screen that remains visible even though the advertising is blocked).

The ONLY browser that correctly removes this is Microsoft Edge.

Is there something I can do to make the android version of Opera cope with this as well ?

I should also point out that I've tried DNS level blocking with the DNS66 app and the site above still manges to defeat it and display the frame.

What do Microsoft know that Opera don't ?

Most probably the answer is no or no one knows it.

with respect, it wasn't really a yes or no question.

Opera - and many other browsers - clearly has a problem with this particular website and there's only one browser on the market that copes with it properly.

For me the site seems okay. What doesn't work on it?

I've highlighted the problem here. This frame is removed by Microsoft Edge.

                    It's probably a blocked ad.

That's exactly what it is, but opera simply leaves the frame there.

Microsoft Edge correctly removes the frame from the website.

Chrome is one of the few browsers, alongside Edge, that actually handle the page properly. The Brave browser works, as does the Samsung Internet Browser.

The CM Browser also works but doesn't particularly handle the page very neatly.

I do currently use Edge full time as my browser of choice but i'd really like to use Opera as I like it's design and I like the idea of the VPN built in, but i'm not prepared to use it if it can't properly handle one of the main sites I visit.

Or, most probably, no one knows an answer.

Ah well, my mistake. I assumed that the official opera forums would be the place to ask about a flaw in the program.

                                Apparently not.

                                Maybe i'll ask reddit.

This is basically a forum for users to help each other and people may not know the answer for everything.

I know generally what the answer is now anyway - it's because opera on android compresses it's data so any third party adblocking won't generally work, and adguard definitely won't work because of it.

it claims to work if you can switch off 'off road' mode, but i think that's only available on the desktop version

Opera for Android compresses data if you have data saving enabled.

I know, but disabling it doesn't fix the problem either so there's still a problem with opera and sites like this.

There are plenty of browsers that DO cope with sites like this just fine so i've got plenty of options. Just a shame none of them will be Opera.
