If you have data at sync.opera.com then you should get it on the new Opera installation after logging in to sync.
Just checked - I have no data stored and cannot sync, so will have to cobble something up

Backup Opera's profile directory and paste it in the new computer.
I do not know how to find the profile directory or where to paste it in the new computer,
Can you give me the path for both ? -

Check Menu > About Opera for the path to profile folder.
Got leocg - no problem and thanks.
Do I do the same with the new PC Opera, then simply drag and drop my profile folder of Opera 36 stored on my Flash Drive onto the profile folder for Opera 57.0.3098.76 in the new PC ? -

Yes, you check the path for the profile folder in the new computer and then paste the content of the backuped one into the new profile folder.
One thing, your saved passwords can't be used in the new computer. If really need them, you need to find a way to export them and import into the new Opera installation.

Leocg, you have been an enormous help to me.
Passwords ? Hum - not easy. I cannot see a way of getting my Opera 36 passwords onto the Opera 57.
Left with a manual cobble up. I have a list saved to an HTML file as an icon on my desktop. I also has a "find". I can transfer that by Flash Drive onto my new desktop and enter the passwords manually as they occur. The new Opera will then save them.
I can also bring up the Opera "manage passwords" on my XP screen and use that, which will be easier.
Many password records are for sites I never use, so it will effectively clear out all my redundant records and accumulate in the new Opera a more reduced but used list.
Hopefully my old bookmarks will transfer over to the new Opera with the profile transfer as discussed. My secondary browser Firefox has been synced, so bookmarks and passwords should automatically transfer over to the new Firefox.

Please understand if I am duplicating something, but can you positively confirm the following -
I have copied the data from my XP Opera 36 onto a Flash Drive following the path -
%appdata%>opera software>opera stable.
It is the Opera 36 Stable file I have copied. If I locate the Opera Stable file in the same way on my new PC Opera 57 and drag and drop the Flash Drive file onto the Opera Stable 57 file, will all my bookmarks and passwords from Opera 36 then transfer and appear on the new Opera 57 ?

Only the bookmarks. Like I said, saved passwords can't be used in another computer, except by using sync.
Thanks again leocg, I will do the Flash Drive transfer and get my bookmarks loaded.
Passwords, I am back to what I said, manual entry from my HTML file and gradual accumulation saving on the new Opera.
Start a new life eh ?
