VPN stops opera working

When VPN is activated Opera stops working any ideas

Please define 'stops working'.

I have had the same issue since version 56, (about 3 weeks). when you click the VPN icon, it turns orange says "connecting", and just gets stuck there, meaning you lose the connection to the internet, until you switch it off. Tried this on various devices and various connections, and same thing happens. Im based in the UK
