Remembering theater mode on YouTube

Was there ever a fix for this, other than an add-on, or extension? I can confirm the same thing happening to me after a browser close in Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Edge

For me the theater mode is remembered.
Try checking cookies settings. Also check if there isn't anything removing your cookies.

wouldn't cookie removal also log me out? This is actually a recent change for me... within the last month maybe.

Also 2 of the browsers listed have never been used with YouTube, and right after logging into my youtube account, they showed the same behavior. (Edge, and Firefox, both with default cookie settings)

I have nothing on my PC that automatically deletes any cookies.
