[Problem] Opera takes a long time to open links from other programs

Opera has issues when I open links from every other application like discord/word/notepad and even .html files from win explorer. When I click on a link it takes nearly 3 minutes(varies) to open opera at needed page and by that time I can forget what I even clicked. If I drag links to opera's url tab it opens them without delay.
This problem doesn't occur with any other browser(IE,Chrome,Firefox).
I have:

• Windows 7
• Opera Stable 55.0.2994.46

How long does Opera take to start up when you launch it?

@leocg @burnout426 I made clean new profile, it took opera ~2 minutes to open link from discord. Still need help!

@compwiz Ok. Just wondering though. If you just open Opera via its shortcut, does Opera at least load right away then?

@compwiz If you launch a command prompt and run:

"C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" "https://www.google.com/"

for example, does it still take forever?

@burnout426 It does. At first I thought it was because I chose custom installation folder, but installing in \Program Files\ didn't help

Still takes forever for both or just when you pass a URL to it?

Also, download https://crystalmark.info/en/download/ and see what it says about the health of your drive. This might not make sense if other programs are working fine, but computers can be funky, so try it anyway.

What type of hard drive to you have? Maybe it's severely fragmented. You could run a command prompt as an administrator and run:

chkdsk /r

and restart to run a scan of your hard drive and fix errors. Warning. It'll take a long time probably. It will report what it finds.

Maybe try installing to a different drive like a USB stick. Even if they're slower, if it's faster than your default drive, that might say something.

If you didn't already, create another user account on Windows and try in it to see how things behave. You can delete the account after you're done testing if you want.

@burnout426 Defragmenting, chkdsk'ing and reinstalling Opera didn't help. I guess Opera is not for me then.

@compwiz There has to be something on your system that's causing it. But, if you're sick of trying to figure it out, it's definitely understandable.
