What kind of fonts(?) are used in here?

I occasionally see the same fonts(?) elsewhere that are used here in this forum as well. When previewing a recent post I made, I screen-capped a copy of what I see in my Opera browser, as well as FF and Chrome. Image example below
Wouldn't it seem apropos to use a more legible font? Here is what I see in different browsers - sometimes, but not all pages/sites. Yes, I see the same on any of 7 comps and monitors here with Vista -, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and the Linux O\S Ubuntu.

Not sure why is the font on your screenshot garbled.
It should look totally different:

That's how it renders on my (and everyone else I've surveyed) computer.

For the record, the fonts we use are (in order of preference: basis_grotesque, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif but it really does not look like problem is with the font but rather something on your end (especially since you're saying that the same problem on other pages).
