I wished to contact someone who is a developer at Opera and have deep understanding of how Opera's new VPN work.
Please provide me a mail address if someone has a contact.

As it is not working the normal way...

      The story:
I have a very special mobile internet package on my cell phone which I usually use as AP, as I travel a lot on the train. This package includes surfing the web with no downloads, youtube etc. Just reading whatever I want unlimited.

Unfortunately for some reason google searching is not included. So if my normal data runs out, which usually does they slow my internet speed down to a very limited speed. Still other webpages are loading quickly since I have that special package. BUT for a google search result I have to wait 10-15 seconds!

As I work as a developer I wish to search the web very often to find and fix problems in the code.

With Opera VPN my problem is solved. Even some of the high-bandwith-use webpages load very well, which otherwise wouldn't.

I wish to extend opera's capability to the whole Operating System.

I believe that the internet provider's filter is based on the ports I try to open. I'm not sure whether it's true or not. For example it most probably let me use the port 80, but not the other ports.

So I wish to forward all the my internet traffic through the 80 port.

I've been trying to achieve this the following way:

      1. With my home Synology NAS.

I've set up VPN Server and Proxy Server. Unfortunately I couldn't set port 80, as it said it is occupied by other service.
Nothing changed, can't google search faster. 😞

Although if I use Opera VPN + Synology (VPN + Proxy) I could download a 200Mb test file over 50Mbit/s average!
I truly want to figure out how opera does it's VPN, as if I create a Synology VPN nothing changes.

      1. With Raspberry Pi.
        In progress. Th14-04

I believe that it won't woe base of the tutorial is this. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-an-openvpn-server-on-ubuntu-rk.

I eager to know the SECRET behing the Opera's VPN solution. How does it get through my mobile internet providers filter?

      Thank you in advance.

      Looking forward!

I'm afraid this will not be possible. However some people from Opera read this forum so maybe they can read your topic and give you an answer, but don't expect it.

Opera's VPN works only in Opera.

I hope some xpert will sooner or later find this discussion.

Of course I know that Opera's VPN works only in Opera browser.

That's the reason why I want to build at home a similar system like Opera's VPN. (and not the normal VPN)

That's my whole post about, you may should have taken more attention.

Why don't you try SurfEasy VPN? SurfEasy is an Opera's company.

It's not free but if you really need it...

I wish to build my OWN VPN.

If someone knows the technical details how to build a similar like Opera's, please let me know.

In this case you may have better luck asking somewhere else. I'm pretty sure that there should be instructions on this around the web.
