Cannot make Opera my standard browser

Hello everyone,
every time when I open Opera it asks me if I want to make it the standard browser. I always click yes, but the next time that I start the browser it asks again. When I tried to set Opera as a standard in the Opera settings, the button did not do anything. I then went to the Ssandard program settings of Windows 7 and tried to set it as a standard there, but the program was not even shown in the list. Despite that, Opera acts like a standard browser, when I open a link, it always opens with Opera.
Can you tell me what is going on here?
Thank you in advance! -

Download the Opera installer, launch it, click "options", set "install path" to your existing Opera (should be "C:\Program Files\Opera") so that it says "upgrade" and set "install for" to "All users". Check "Make Opera my default browser" and uncheck any options you want and then install.
That should fix your installation of Opera where it should then show up in Default Programs in the Control Panel. Choose "Set default by program" and give Opera all of its associations.
