In the settings of the browser, I have selected Google as the default search engine, but the browser automatically loads Yandex on the start page. I have reinstalled the browser several times, also deleting all user data, but it still reverts to Yandex search engine. Do you know how to make Google the default search engine?

@berndstrauss As already said in these forums, start page search engine can not be changed.

I would like to know why the search engine cannot be changed. In the past, I could choose a default search engine, and it did not disappear from the start page.

@berndstrauss It was answered before, the given reason is security. The idea is to avoid malware to change your default search engine.

Can you give me the link to the discussion of the subject? Does the browser change the default search engine based on the user’s country?

@berndstrauss It was years ago, I don't have it here.

And yes, default search engine as well as start page search may be different in some countries.
