About every 5-8 weeks my Speed Dial page will automatically add a site that I didn't request. I'm in the US, and the most recent were for Bookings.com and Overstock.com . These can be deleted, but they eventually come back. Can these be permanently deleted and can this spam-like behavior be disabled?

Not that I know of. Opera gets money from the companies if you click the speed dial item. They don't want to make it too annoying of course, but my observations match yours - they come back with the next major update (as in, when the version number changes from 51 to 52).

Funny you mention that because Bookings.com was added without my knowledge to my Speed Dial today.

Same thing happened to me a couple of days ago.
Never visited bookings.com and on my speed dial are only links that i have selected and put there. And now this shitty Opera behavior.
Seems to me it was a mistake giving Opera a new chance.

It happens for me too (living in Hungary) but it takes just a couple of seconds to delete them...
