Version: 52.0.2871.30 - Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Windows 10 64-bit (WoW64)Facebook randomly freezes requiring browser restart, Same with the Guardian website and numerous others. What was the point of this update? It was working fine before.

Yes same problems here, some tabs hang for 10-15 seconds, some never wake again and i have to cancel. Adblocker only working after 2-3 restarts, stutter when loading websites.
I deleted opera 52 and went back to 51, disabling the auto update.

Oh i know how hard software development is and i appreciate how good Opera has become. Was just reporting bugs. Hope everything is stable again soon and ill try the new one.

Well this is the negative of the "forced" releases, a stable update should not break any previous solid experience, only improve it. But if you are stick to a strict have-to-release cycle and don't properly take your time to beta-test enough these things happen, also flashbangs.

@djdat Just by this message itself it's hard for us to know what exact problem you experience. To workaround this you could just install latest version over your installation.
If you would like to help us to find out why you get this message you would have to do following:
- setup environment variable OPERA_AU_ENABLE_LOGGING
- after error occurs there should be detailed logs in %WINDIR%/Temp/opera autoupdate/
- find line containing "[AU] Update preparation error:" and send it to us
