Faster ad blocker doesn't block ads

Since 52.0.2871.30 pages that used to be ad-free are now full of ads (eg. https://pctuning.tyden.cz).
Also on some pages disabling/enabling adblocker has no effect at all (https://www.theguardian.com).

Can I turn off this "feature" somewhere?

Several restarts later - the ad blocker starts working....
