My Windows recently updated and now I cannot use Opera as my default browser. It does not show up in the list of default options and it will not allow me to choose the default by app. When I try to give Opera all it's defaults it does nothing. Won't even allow the option.

@danny6604 What happens if you try to set Opera as default browser from the settings page?

@danny6604 One possible reason is that some time ago you used Opera x32 on your computer, and now you installed Opera x64. In the registry there remain keys that refer to "c:\Program Files (x86)\Opera", and x64-installer is not smart enough to make necessary corrections in the registry. Try to manually replace "c:\Program Files (x86)\Opera" with "c:\Program Files\Opera" in all registry keys. After that the Opera application becomes properly registered in Windows, and you can make it the default browser.

FWIW, I did a bunch of testing on this with current stable installers and couldn't confirm.

@burnout426 I solved this problem in this way quite long time ago. So, maybe my recipe is outdated.
