Chromecast not working or referenced in Opera 50.0 on Mac

I'm on MacOS 10.13.2 and removed Opera fully, including all references in /Library/... and ~/Library/... I then did a fresh install and it's still the case that there is no Opera setting under Preferences - Browser - User interface that has anything to do with Chromecast, even though http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2018/01/opera-50-introduces-anti-bitcoin-mining-tool/ says it's part of the new, production release. What gives?! I would love to ditch Chrome for Opera but can't without Chromecast support :<

@ahd As far as I know, Chromecast support may not be available in some countries.

@ahd I don't know the places where it's not available but I remember have seen people from US complaining that Chromecast options are not on the settings.

@leocg As the moderator of this forum, do you work for Opera? If so, can you find out and give a definitive answer about whether or not Chromecast is supported by Opera 50.0 in the US? It seems really poor form to advertise it as supporting Chromecast if that's not true for a big piece of the user base...

It seems that you have to enable that option.

• Go to Settings and search it on the Search box.
  | You can test opera://cast/#devices too.

At least that worked here - Windows -.

@zalex108 Are you in the US? I browsed to opera://cast/#devices and got a "This site can't be reached" error. Sadly, that's consistent with the fact that the Search box in Preferences returns nothing when I search for Chromecast :<

Since I had to enable the option I thought it was related.

Then,
look at this, and read also the Sgunhouse's post.

To find the file:

• OMenu > About Opera
  | And follow the path to the profile with any explorer.

I'm on Spain, so you can try es since Chromecast is enabled.

If that is not the file, ask to @leocg.

The file is Local State.

Use JSONEdit instead any Notepad.

There is a post on how to fix it, at least worked for the poster, search for "Cast" on the Forums, the fix is around a week ago.
